Resize it to between 5x7 and 8x10 @ 200 ppi.
Save as PSD
Add the five additional elements. KEEP YOUR LAYERS.

Scanner Face

From Faces

Scan your face pressed up against the scanner and save as a JPG. After importing and locking the photo to the illustrator file, use the pen tool to create an illustrated self-portrait. Remember to take advantage of opacity to create subtle tonal changes. The illustration will be viewed without the photo, so make it good.
Remember to export a JPG and upload it to your blog before class. I will collect the .AI file in class.

Alternative Spring Break

Apply for Campus Philly’s 2011 Alternative Spring Break!

Campus Philly's Alternative Spring Break is a weeklong service immersion program held in March of each year. Participating students live and work together throughout the week. During the days, students will visit a local nonprofit to learn about a social issue affecting the Philadelphia region and how that nonprofit is working to tackle the problem. Students will then get a chance to work directly on a service project with the nonprofit.

At night, students are given the chance to explore some of the many great cultural offerings of Philadelphia. Past trips have included a private tour of Citizens Bank Park, Eastern State Penitentiary, the Philadelphia Zoo, ice skating, Adventure Aquarium and more. This year's Alternative Spring Break will be taking place from Sunday, March 6th to Friday, March 11th. All applications are due on February 11th.

Spring 2011

Welcome!
This semester each student will create a blog at blogger.com. You will be asked to create new posts weekly. The posts may be homework images, responses to readings or lectures, photo galleries, etc. You are also encouraged to post interesting things that find throughout the semester. Please keep this blog related to your Tyler experience and leave the social networking to other sites.

Homework: walk/ride/bike
Get out of the dorms and off campus and check out Philly! While you're out there, look around, breathe the not so fresh air, try new food, see some art and take 25-30 Photographs, create 3 sketches, gather 5 objects to scan.
Blog about the experience and what you discovered.

Final

There are lots of questions about the final project. Here are some examples.
Q: How long must it be.
A: 5-7 minutes.

Q: What should it include.
A: Seriously? I've been talking about this since the first day of class. Influences and experiences that got you here. Also examples of art work from along the way.

Q: Do we have to use Powerpoint?
A: NO It's not about the software, it's about the presentation. Powerpoint, Key Note, or even Prezi are fine.

Q: Do I have to talk?
A: Yes, yes, yes

Q: How many slides do I need?
A: It's your project. Make it good. Make it professional. I don't care about the number of slides.
